Home & Office creates an undeletable link to your device. This link is made possible by the unique resilient relationship between these four components:

Secure communication
The Absolute Agent is a small software client that resides in devices that are tracked in the Home & Office portal.
After you install the agent on your device, it uses a secure Internet connection to send the device's name, serial number, make, model, and location to the Absolute Monitoring Center for display in the portal. Going forward, the agent maintains a secure two-way connection with the Monitoring Center, automatically calling in every 15 minutes to send and receive data. During these calls, the agent scans the device for new information, such as its current location, and uploads it to the portal via the Absolute Monitoring Center. It also receives and processes any actions, such as a Lock or Wipe, that you submitted in the portal.
You can be confident that when the agent is actively running, it does not affect system performance on your device, and agent calls do not interfere with your Internet activities.
Maintaining an undeletable link
To maintain visibility and control over your device, it’s vital that the Absolute Agent is never removed. This is made possible through the activation of Absolute Persistence.
Absolute partners with device manufacturers to embed Persistence technology in the firmware of most Windows devices during the manufacturing process. When the Absolute Agent is installed on a compatible device, Persistence is activated automatically, which enables it to monitor the health of the agent and restore it if it's missing, damaged, or tampered with. Even if the firmware is flashed, the device is reimaged, or the hard drive is replaced, Persistence will "self-heal" the Absolute Agent.
With Persistence technology only you—the authorized user—can remove the agent.
