Enabling 2FA

The following 2FA apps are free to download and have been tested and validated for use with Home & Office on iOS and Android devices:

• Google Authenticator ™
• Duo Mobile

  The Push feature is not supported.

• Microsoft Authenticator

If you prefer to use another 2FA application, you should be able to use any app that supports time based one time passwords (TOTP).

On your phone, download and install a 2FA app of your choice.

For example, to download the Google Authenticator app, do one of the following:

• On an iOS device, go to the App Store and search for, download, and install the Google Authenticator app.
• On an Android device, go to the Google Play Store and search for, download, and install the Google Authenticator app.

To ensure that the date and time on your phone is correct for your time zone:

This section contains detailed steps for setting up the Google Authenticator app. If you are using another 2FA app, refer to the app's documentation for details about setting up a new account.

To set up 2FA:

1. Log in to the portal.
2. Do one of the following:
   • If the Two-Factor Authentication now available dialog shows, click Enable.
   • If the Two-Factor Authentication now available dialog does not show, click and click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

   A dialog opens. Do not close it.

3. On your phone, do the following:
   1. Open the 2FA app you downloaded.
   2. Add your Home & Office user account to the app.

      For example, if you're using the Google Authenticator app:

      1. Tap Begin (or Begin Setup) and tap Scan a QR code to enable your camera.
      2. Scan the QR code on the Enable Two-Factor Authentication dialog.

      The email address associated with your user account is added to the app on your device and a 6-digit verification code shows. Note that the code changes every 30 seconds.

4. On your device, do the following:
1. Save a copy of your 32-digit setup key:
   1. Click Copy Key (or take a screenshot of the dialog).
   2. Paste the key in an email to yourself, or manually record it and store it in a safe location.

      Do not skip this step. If you lose access to the 2FA app because your phone is lost or damaged, or you inadvertently delete the app, the setup key is required to restore access to your Absolute account.
      Ensure that you store your setup key in a safe location that is not on your device or your phone.

   3. Select the I have made a copy of the setup key checkbox.
2. In the Enter verification code field, enter the 6-digit code that currently shows in the app on your phone.

   If an Invalid code error message shows, the verification code failed for one of the following reasons:

   • The code has expired. Wait for the app to generate a new code and then enter it.

     If you're using Duo Mobile, enter the new code immediately after it's generated to avoid seeing the Invalid code error message again. If this still doesn't resolve the issue, close and reopen Duo Mobile before trying again.

   • The date and time on your device is incorrect. Update this setting before trying again.

3. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication. 2FA is enabled.

Each time you log in to the portal, you'll need to open the 2FA app on your phone to get a 6-digit verification code to enter along with your password.

3. Tap Copy Key. Do not close the dialog.
4. Open the 2FA app and do the following:
   1. Tap the + icon and tap Enter a setup key.
   2. In the Account field, enter the email address you use to access your Home & Office account.
   3. In the Enter code field, paste the 32-digit key that you copied in step 3.
   4. Ensure that the Time based option is selected and tap Add.
5. On the Enable Two-Factor Authentication dialog, do the following:
1. Save a copy of your 32-digit setup key:
   1. Tap Copy Key (or take a screenshot of the dialog).
