If your license includes the Recovery feature, the Absolute Investigations Team can help to locate and recover your device if it's stolen.

The Investigations Team is staffed by former law enforcement professionals and other experts who use forensics tools and investigative techniques to locate stolen devices. Once your device is located, the Investigations Team connects with local law enforcement to coordinate your device's safe return. Learn more

Submit a Recovery request to the Absolute Investigations Team if all of the following conditions apply:

  • The device is missing as a result of a criminal act
  • You are prepared to proceed with a criminal investigation, including prosecution of the perpetrator
  • You have filed a police report with law enforcement and have recorded the police report file number
  • You are submitting the Recovery request within 14 days of the device being stolen

If any of these conditions are not met, you can't submit a Recovery request.

To submit a Recovery request for a stolen device:

  1. Ensure that the missing device meets the conditions for a stolen device.

  2. Sign in to the portal from another device, such as your phone.

  3. Tap and select the device. Click and select the device.

  4. Tap . Click .
  5. In the Contact Information section, complete all required fields.

    Ensure that your responses are correct. To update this content after you submit the form, you'll need to contact Recovery Support directly, either by phone or at [email protected].

  6. In the Police Report section, complete all required fields. If you need to update any of this information after you submit the form, you can edit your Recovery request.
  7. In the Incident details section, complete all required fields. In the Details of the Incident field, enter details (maximum 1000 characters) about the last known location of the device and the circumstances of the incident.

    Try to be accurate and detailed, as it will increase the likelihood that the Absolute Investigations Team can help to recover the device.

    Ensure that your responses are correct. To update this content after you submit the form, you'll need to contact Recovery Support directly, either by phone or at [email protected].

  8. Tap Submit Recovery Request. Click Submit Recovery Request.

Recovery in progress is added to the device's Details page, and an investigation is opened with a status of Monitoring. You'll receive an email when the report changes status. You can also track the status on the device's Details page.

While the Investigations Team completes its investigation, you can't submit a Lock or Wipe because these actions may hamper the team's attempts to recover the device. Similarly, the device's location is not shown on the map.
