Locate

If you've lost or misplaced your device, you can use Locate to see it's last known location on a map.

Note that your device needs to be connected to the Internet to report its current location. If your device is powered off when it is moved, it won't report its new location until it connects to the Internet again.

To locate your device:

  1. Tap and tap the device. Click and click the device.
  2. To see your device's location on the map, tap . To see your device's location on the map, click . The device's last reported location is indicated by the marker. You can use the controls to zoom in.

  3. To view location details, click the marker. To view location details, tap the marker. The following information shows in a tooltip:

    • Device name

      Click the device name to open the device's Details page. Tap the device name to open the device's Details page.

    • Last seen date and time

    • City, state/province, and country

    • Accurate to <#> meters via <geotechnology>

      Shows the geotechnology (Wi-Fi, OS Location (Windows devices only), or IP Location) used to report the device's location, and the location's accuracy in meters

      If a user is not logged in to a Mac device, only IP locations can be reported.

      Note that a Low Confidence warning is shown at the top of the tooltip when any of the following conditions apply to the reported location:

      • Geotechnology is IP Location

      • Reported location accuracy is empty or 0 meters
      • Geotechnology is OS Location and accuracy is more than 500 meters

  4. To close the tooltip, click the marker again. To close the tooltip, tap the marker again.
